1. Detective Comics


The DC stands for Detective Comics the source of the company's name is its popular Detective Comics series that was published from 1937 to 2011 and then again from 2016 to present perhaps its most notable issue as number 27 which was printed in May of 1939 this was the issue that introduced Batman.



2. Creators of Superman


Superman was created by high school students in 1933 by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster when they were still in high school they sold the character to Detective Comics (DC) in 1938 and he quickly became the archetype for superheroes.

In 1975 Siegel and Shuster launched a public relations campaign to protest DC's treatment of them and eventually got the company to agree to pay them $30,000 each per year for the rest of their lives and to credit them for the creation of Superman in all Comics films and video games featuring the character.



Hawkeye is the only character that is a member of the Justice Legue as well as the Avengers.

 


3. Stan Lee Also Work For DC


Stan Lee went to work for DC after retiring from Marvel Stanley is an iconic comic book creator who is always linked with Marvel as he created some of their most popular characters including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Black Panther however when he retired from Marvel in the late 1990s he took a job with Marvel's rival DC Comics.
He created a series of Just Imagine comics that featured Lee's version of well known DC characters including Batman,Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Catwoman and the Justice League. 



4. Most Expensive Comics Of DC


DC holds the record for the world's most expensive comic book the most valuable comic book in the world as DC's Action Comics number one which was published in 1938 the comic is notable because it included the first ever appearance of Superman about 200,000 copies were originally produced in 1938 but less than 100 are thought to be in existence today with only single digits thought to be in mint condition.
Nicolas Cage sold his copy of the comic in 2011 on eBay for 2.16 million dollars and in 2014 another seller listed a copy on ebay with a starting price of $0.99 within two hours the bids had jumped to 1.6 million and the auction closed with a winning bid of just over 3.2 million dollars making it the most expensive comic book ever sold today a mint-condition copy of the comic is valued at 4.5 million dollars.

5. Most Hated Fonts


Comic sans font was created after the letters used in DC Comics perhaps one of the most hated fonts Comic Sans was created by Microsoft designer Vincent Connare in 1994 he was specifically inspired by the lettering in the DC Comics. The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen Connare said that those who hate the font should get another hobby.



6. Marvel Almost Buy DC Famous Superheroes


DC tried to sell their best heroes to Marvel in the early 80s DC was struggling financially so much so they were willing to sell some of their best heroes to their rifle Marvel. 

Marvel had the chance to buy Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and others but the CEO at the time Jim Dalton rejected the offer asserting that DC sales must be poor because the characters weren't any good.

The Dark Knight Rises which grossed 1.08 billion dollars worldwide the second most 
successful DC movie is the second in the trilogy which grossed just over a billion dollars worldwide in 2008.



8. Joker Character Died in Beginning


The Joker was supposed to be killed off quickly The Joker Batman's arch nemesis first appeared in the comic issue Batman number 1 in 1940 but the Joker's creator Bob Kane killed him off in the story and had no plans to use him any further. 

Kane didn't particularly like the character because he thought he was too clownish but an editor saw the Joker's potential and changed Kane's mind about killing him off a panel was added into the comic showing the Joker coming back to life after he'd apparently been stabbed to death which was the comics original intention.

It’s one of the classic debates of DC mythology – “Who’s faster? Superman or Flash?”. Both characters have demonstrated that they can run/fly fast enough to go back in time, but whenever they do race, the competition always ends in a tie no matter how many times they try.
